This course is designed for the student who needs or wants a deeper understanding of the concepts in Algebra 1 and Geometry, and is often used as a bridge course to Algebra 2. The student will work cooperatively with other students while applying Algebra 1 and Geometry concepts in hands-on projects and activities, to develop a deeper understanding of mathematics in the real world. Topics will include solving equations and inequalities, systems of equations, functions, perimeter, area, volume, symmetry, indirect measurement, probability and statistics. Prerequisite: C or better in Algebra 1. This course must be taken after Algebra 1 and before Algebra 2. This is an elective course unless the student is in the diploma pathway for an Arts & Humanities endorsement.
